Ant killer

April 29, 2007

I played badminton last night and have been since a few months ago. Right now I’m paying the price. My muscles ache from head to toe. It’s strange though considering I’ve been playing with the gang almost every week and had not have this problem. Maybe I overdid it last night for playing too long at once.

Also, for some reason I have not been feeling so good ever since. I have a slight headache enough to bother me. I woke up this morning with a burning feeling in my throat and I get waves of nausea once in a while. I have no clue what is going on. I hope I’m not getting sick as I have lots to do. *cross fingers*

I managed to stay away from playing Cake Mania since I last blogged by not using the taptop, which is where the game is installed in.

On a random note, ants (yes the little pesky bugs) are driving me insane. I never used to be bothered that much by them but now they are really pissing me off. I will have a cup of water sitting on my table and a couple hours later, there’re like 6 of them little bastards in my water! WHAT DO ANTS WANT WITH WATER?!?!?! I see one crawling about on my table right now and I just reached over and squash it with my fingers. They’re everywhere! I hate them!GERAMNYA!!!! To be so disturbed and annoyed by something as tiny as an ant really says a lot about my patience eh? Hahaha But to be brutally honest, I can endure some pretty dramatic things, little did you know. 😉

Tuesday and Wednesday are public holidays, what have you got planned?

Cake Mania

April 28, 2007

For the last couple of days I have been SO engrossed with playing Cake Mania on Yahoo. It’s very addicting. I can’t stop, I keep wanting to go to the next level. DIE! How to finish my thesis liddat?? You guys need to try it, but for the full version you have to paylah.

I’m back to editing Chapter 1 AGAIN because I want to make it as perfect as possible and hand it in to the PostGrad department as a proposal to apply for the uni’s scholarship of sorts. It’s called “Zamalah” (in Malay I think) and to be honest I’ve never heard of this word before. For me, it’s like a scholarship because it’ll pay for my tuition fees and I get a fixed amount of allowances every month. Considering I’m finishing end of this year, I don’t know the possibility of me actually getting this scholarship. I just found out about it 2 weeks ago. I figured I’d try. At least I have a chance than not applying at all right?

Speaking of school stuff, I have about six months to finish the thesis and there are times I get panicky while there are times I’m so carefree and playing games relaxed. I truly do not understand what is going on in this head of mine.

I went to my uncle’s place to check up on the puppies this evening before dinner. I don’t think I’ve mentioned before but his German Shepherd had 10 pups but 2 died a few days later. The pups are now over 6 weeks old and are a cute bundle of joy. I took some nice pictures so I’ll post them up when I get to it.

The Martha Stewart Show is on NTV7 right now. It airs weekdays at 10am and repeats at 12.45 am. I hate to admit it but I’m begining to enjoy watching the show. *hangs head in shame* I’ve been domesticated somehow. I have to admit I very much loved the wedding episode. *blush*

Okay, enough rambling. G’night.

How I started my day…

April 25, 2007

If you are a follower of this blog, you would know the crazy, silly, weird (and the list goes on) things Rob and I do. Here’s another example…

But before I move on, here are a few meanings of inside words/phrases we incorporate in our day-to-day conversation so you can further understand what we do.

doosh = our version of poking someone in the sides (created by Rob)
chop = our version of chopping someone with the side of the hand (like a knife)
chainsaw = our version of using the hand to immitate a chainsaw (created by me)
hacha = the whole kungfu sound made during fighting, kinda like haaaaaachaaa!!! Basically whoever gets the “hacha” in the conversation first usually wins.

These words are meant in a non-violent way. It’s just our way of creatively tickling each other in the cyber world.

Shin (4/25/2007 9:21:16 AM): hi
Rob (4/25/2007 9:29:13 AM): Hi
Shin (4/25/2007 9:30:08 AM): hi hi
Rob (4/25/2007 9:32:37 AM): Hi hi hi
Shin (4/25/2007 9:32:47 AM): hi hi hi hi
Rob (4/25/2007 9:33:37 AM): Hi hi hi hi hi
Shin (4/25/2007 9:34:07 AM): hi hi hi hi hi hi
Rob (4/25/2007 9:35:23 AM): Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi
Shin (4/25/2007 9:35:42 AM): hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi doosh
Rob (4/25/2007 9:36:23 AM): Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi HI doosh chop
Shin (4/25/2007 9:37:30 AM): hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi doosh chop chainsaw
Rob (4/25/2007 9:41:31 AM): Hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi HI doosh chop doosh chop hacha chainsaw
Shin (4/25/2007 9:42:12 AM): ok you win
Rob (4/25/2007 9:44:02 AM): Nope, my injuries were too severe, its a tie
Shin (4/25/2007 9:45:05 AM): you had injuries?
Rob (4/25/2007 9:45:55 AM): The chainsaw was nearly fatal
Shin (4/25/2007 9:47:08 AM): you chopped me first, i chainsawed in retaliation THEN you chopped me again AND hacha chainsaw me..my injuries are worse than yours
Rob (4/25/2007 9:52:05 AM): Actually i only grazed you with chainsaw, i was too weak from your attack to use it well, so its about even
Shin (4/25/2007 9:53:09 AM): even if so, you still hacha me and that is the ultimate weapon
Rob (4/25/2007 9:54:21 AM): Yeah but i fell on to your chainsaw after that, that finished me off
Shin (4/25/2007 9:55:21 AM): ya know, normally we would go “YES!” when we win
Rob (4/25/2007 9:56:27 AM): And with my last breath….”YES!”

Yes we are both very weird juvenile delinquents.

Happy Anniversary Robbie

April 23, 2007

Our 4th anniversary was on April 1st so I know this post is WAY overdue. Initially I wanted to write something but was pissed due to Streamyx being doiwn that week. Then I thought there’s no point doing a post anymore as I would be a week late. Now I’m feeling all lovey-dovey and mushy so I might as well make full use of my mood to write something. Here goes…

Robbie,

We have been through so much together even though we’re so far apart. We have talked about everything and anything under the sun, even beyond that. We talked about life and death, love and hate, courage and fear.

I love you. I love you so very much. Sometimes I feel like words cannot express how my heart feels for you. But I believe you saw how much I love you the morning I had to leave. I still get tears in my eyes (even right now) when I think of that morning at the airport. We were running late due to traffic. You dropped me off to check-in and went to find parking. As I stood there waiting for you nervously, I was so scared. I was so scared I wouldn’t see you one last time before I leave. What was I going to do if I didn’t get to hug you one more time? I was just so so scared. I kept looking at my watch. I prayed to God you’d make it. I even used my phone on roaming to call you but couldn’t get through.

Ten minutes past, you still weren’t there. I was at the edge of crying. And suddenly, I saw your face. I saw you running towards me. It was like a bright light shinning around you, like an angel guiding you to me. I couldn’t hold back my tears. I ran to you and hugged you so tight and sobbed. I didn’t want to leave. I still don’t want to leave but I had to.

Now that I’ve been home for over 3 months, I still miss you. I miss seeing you when I open my eyes in the morning. I miss sharing food and drinks with you. I miss closing my eyes knowing you’re next to me. I love having you next to me. It has never been the same since you came into my life, and I know it will never be the same again.

To love you is to realize that life without you would be no life at all…

I love you so much. You are always inside my heart, filling it with warmth and joy. You are everywhere in the world that surrounds me. You take my soul places it has never been before. You have given me more of you than I ever knew anyone would give. You have given me so much. Among the gifts you have given me, one of the most wonderful of all is the feeling of being loved by you.

Happy Anniversary Robbie.

Many random pictures

April 20, 2007

I just got back from playing badminton for an hour. Feels good to sweat! However, I am also hungry. I skipped dinner cos I had a heavy lunch. I am tempted to cook some instant noodles but I am ressisting the urge! :S

Seeing as I have been too lazy busy to transfer pictures and upload them, this post will backtrack to the past 10 days or so. Cincai lah ok? 😉

More than a week ago I broke my fingernail. Shockingly it didn’t hurt considering how “dramatic” it looks…

See, not bloody one! (Somehow I have been liking using Manglish lately)

Next up are some pictures taken on my trip to Genting Highlands with my parents for a day trip to spend win some money at the casinoes. I was too busy thinking about winning money to take pictuers. HEH

Kok Yu is too sexy that I had to scream again.

I ordered Ice Peach Tea for the night and Kok Yu knocked the glass and spilled my drink ALL over the table. So I spent most of the night giving him a hard time and making him feel guilty! HAH! I’m so bad sometimes! You know I was just kidding with you right Kok Yu? So with that said, it explains this next picture of my sexy face.

I have a taptop

April 19, 2007

The meeting with the professor got rescheduled to this morning as oppose to yesterday evening. His exact words today were “This thesis is starting to look promising.” I was dancing in joy in my head.

Prior to the meeting, I talked to Rob a bit and he asked me “So are you on the new laptop or the old taptop?” Before I could respond “Huh? What taptop?”, he basically kinda “scolded” himself and said something to the extent of “What the heck am I saying, I’m going outta my mind. I meant to say laptop and said taptop instead” etc while I was giggling the entire time. Lame as it may be, I just thought it was funny and “blogworthy”. =P When I was done giggling I decided that my old laptop will now be called “taptop” and the new laptop will be “lappy”. I think Rob likes the idea.

So, I’m sure most of you know about the whole shooting incident at Virginia Tech that killed 32 people and the shooter shot himself when he was done rampaging. How convenient eh? Go out, kill people, get a kick outta it and then kill yourself and suffer no consequences other than the easy way out of death. He sent a tape of himself to NBC and said some things, e.g “You have vandalized my heart, raped my soul and torched my conscience.” Ummm HELLO??? What about what you just did (or going do to for that matter)??? Was that not vandalism at the extreme??? Did you not take people’s lives??? Tsk tsk tsk. What has this world come into? More and more people are getting the mentality of “You piss me off, I’ll kill you.” or “I don’t like you. I’ll wage war on you.” and you know who I’m referring to about the whole war thing. 😉

Rob said something that cracked me up about this whole incident. We were talking about how scarry it is and how I’m glad it didn’t happen near him because that would weird me out. Being a smartass, Rob says “Yeah, we have lots of weirdos here. We even import them.” (Again) I thought that was funny 😛

On another note, remember I mentioned about me having my own website? That website used to just forward to blogspot but now Rob has officially launched the website. Now Blogger publishes to both my blogspot address AND my personal website. This means I can customize my blog with real website content, and eventually I could add more web pages and link it all to my blog. With that said, you guys can access my blog through www.shin-yi.com. Update your links and favorites!

Oh yeah, I had the pleasure of eating a free lunch today, courtesy of Madam Wee, who (surprisingly) reads my blog on a regular basis. So, thanks Madam Wee! I look forward for the next time. *wink* KFC=Yum. =D

Pictures are transferred and I will be resizing them soon so check back for updates tomorrow or the day after. Til then, toodles~~

G’day (like an Aussie)

April 17, 2007

For some reason, I have been feeling a bit OZ lately because I keep chanting “Oi oi oi oi!” to Rob when we play Jigsaw Too on MSN and he grabs the piece I was getting. I’d go “Oi! That’s my piece! You puzzle snatcher!”

I noticed on my counter that I get on average more than 30 hits with 6 first time visitors a day. One day last week I had almost 60 hits. That baffles me because I have no idea that many people read my blog. No doubt, the whole Asia Blog Awards nomination thing helped but seeing as I have not heard anything about voting, I shrugged it off a long time ago. Nontheless I still get some hits referred by the website.

I’m flattered that I have readers that come back for more but at the same time I wonder who my readers are (other than a few friends and Rob). So you guys, don’t be shy and leave me a comment lah and tell me who you are. I would love to know. 😀 (Quite hypocritical of me considering I RARELY leave comments on other people’s blogs.)

I’ve decided that the first chapter I handed in will be renamed to Introduction and that the much said of scrambling around doing Chapter 2 will be named Chapter 1. I figured a thesis needs an introduction chapter on its own before going into the real “meat” of the research. Or maybe I’ll maintain Chapter 1 and 2 as chapter 1 and 2 and create an Introduction chapter? Am I confusing you yet? Yes? Good, that makes the two of us. Hahahaha

Two days ago I was shopping for groceries at Choice Daily and while walking through the so-called juice section, I saw the juice of ALL juices! The packaging seemed awfully familiar so I grabbed it and read the labelling. It then hit me; It was the EXACT same juice I had while I was in Chicago! I was so excited! At the same time it made me miss Robbie because we shared a glass of THAT juice everyday while I was there. Wild Orchard’s Apple Raspberry Juice. It’s REALLY good! I love it. We (my parents and I) decided to buy it and it’s now sitting in the kitchen unopened because I can’t seem to bring myself to open it. I want to keep it for sentimental reasons as explained above. Man, I am SO mushy.

I’m currently blogging from a new laptop. Yes, I’ve had a new laptop for a while now but never thought to mention it on here. I got it before the Chinese New Year and I’m just starting to use it. It’s too pretty to be used! I’m scared of fading out the keyboard like I did with my older laptop but Rob put in a new set of keyboards on it so it looks brand new…the keyboard, not the laptop. My old laptop is OLD and worn out but parts under the covers are working great still with the minor upgrades Rob did on it. I’ve been using it since the first year of Uni. I even dropped it a few times. It’s so versatile! That’s why I love Compaq! This one I’m typing away on is a Compaq too…I am SO rambling, aren’t I??? I swear I didn’t have coffee or anything caffeinated today.

Okay, I’m gonna go back to the books.

Au revoir~~

La di da

April 15, 2007

I’m meeting with my professor next Wednesday so as always I’m scrambling around getting things done at the last minute. I have about 5 pages right now and still working hard (while going out a lot HEH). When will I learn? It’s mid-April now and I have JUST started Chapter 2…I’m screwed. Heh

I just realized that there aren’t any pictures in the last couple of posts. The reason for that is LAZINESS. I’ve been feeling too lazy to upload the pictures and I have no idea why. Speaking of pictures, I have yet to transfer pictures from 3 nights ago. Arghhhh..why am I so lazy???

Fang Fang was in town for a few days which somewhat explains my absence because I was so busy eating and having fun! I love it! She’s going back tonight so things will slow down a bit. Pictures up in the next post (I hope).

I’m sitting here eating cereal, Post Honey Bunches of Oats with almonds. They are THE BEST!!! I can’t get enough of them. I love the thinly sliced almonds, so crunchy…yummy. Heh

Anyway, time to go. Rob’s online and wants to cyber-snuggle. 😉

Bye~

Cursed but happy

April 10, 2007

So I have been hit with the bloody (literally) montly curse all women go through most of their lives. With cramps and all, Rob still manages to make me smile. Here’s why…

Rob (4/10/2007 3:16:13 PM):
Rob (4/10/2007 3:16:43 PM): you get a hug cuz you have the evil visitor [AKA the period]
Shin (4/10/2007 3:18:22 PM):
Shin (4/10/2007 3:18:24 PM): cool!
Shin (4/10/2007 3:18:28 PM):
Shin (4/10/2007 3:18:44 PM): i am cursed with the evil ummmm uhhh…thing!
Rob (4/10/2007 3:19:32 PM): yeah… its 7 days of ick. 2 days of sensitive boobs [Yes I tell him that and even if I don’t tell him, any guy smart enough to read or ask about periods will know] and moods [I have been bitchy (HEH) the last couple days], 5 days of cramps [He was exaggerating a little] and bleh [just for added effect I assume]
Shin (4/10/2007 3:19:48 PM):
Rob (4/10/2007 3:20:37 PM): gentle hug (no boob squishy) [Awwww so sweet, right?]
Shin (4/10/2007 3:20:43 PM):
Shin (4/10/2007 3:20:59 PM): i SO wanna blog this
Rob (4/10/2007 3:21:23 PM): hehe

Before any of you “conservatives” out there go “EEEEEEE” (in disgust) here and there, as IF you never hug your boyfriend before and as if when you hug ANYONE, your boobs don’t get squished one way or another.

Anyway, this is one of the many reasons why I love my Robbie. He’s the best-est-est-est guy in the entire world for me. I love you baby! Thank you for understanding my womanly troubles.

So behind…

April 8, 2007

So I’m finally done with the food posts and I’m still contemplating whether I want to write about my 2 day trip in Atlanta where I (turbo) visited CNN Headquarters, Coke Headquarters, Olympic Park, Underground Atlanta etc. Feeling lazy…I’ll decide eventually.

I’m pretty behind about updates of my life as I have been tauting and tentalizing you guys on the wonderful scrumptous American food. I went to the PC fair yesterday and got a Canon laser printer for RM435 plus lots of free gifts including a mini red cooler (COOL! Pun intented), a laptop bag, a trolley and a Canon Pixma photo album. Originally it was RM449 but with the help of Kok Yu AKA Mr. Giggles who has some connections, we managed to get it down to RM435. It’s good to know people, but in this case it’s good to know someone who knows a lot of people! HAH! He also helped to drag/carry the printer. (Laser printers are kinda heavy). Thanks Kok Yu! 😀 *Update* Thanks to Fiona too for driving and helping to get more info! 😛

Seeing as I have been lazy and going out a lot, my thesis has taken a halt. :S

So, tomorrow I’m going to the library for a couple hours to read up and get more books. My following chapter will discuss on China’s political economic history post-Communist Revolution 1949. I think I have subconsciously decided not to post contents of my thesis here as it is totally unrelated on this blog. Heh I am hoping to finish the whole thing by late September, if not, October should be ok so that I can focus entirely on other important things. 😀

Oh yeah, my parents and I took a day trip to KL on Friday and spent the majority of the time at Genting Highlands. Gamble gamble gamble. HEH We won some money, that’s why I could get the printer. 😉 Took pictures but still feeling lazy to transfer them, resize them, and upload them. Yadda yadda yadda.

Oooo! Rob’s online now so I’m gonna kick his ass in games sign off now. Au revoir~~~
