Bangkok Day 1
October 31, 2006
Sorry for not posting earlier. I have been feeling tired ever since I got back from my trip. I doubt it’s jetlag though. I keep getting light headed and this morning somehow when I turned my head to the right, I felt this sharp pain down the side of my neck. It still hurts. *pout*
Anyway, after sorting out over 400 pictures (a combination of pictures from my digital camera and cousin’s), here’s Day 1 in Bangkok.
Arriving in the new airport in Bangkok, my mom and I went through immigration check. I was checking out the new airport, looking around, up and down. Then I noticed there were A LOT of cobwebs on the ceiling. How can that be? It’s a new airport for pete’s sake! I didn’t manage to take any pictures as there was this rule of no phones/cameras during immigration check. Anyhow, I later found out that construction of this new airport started over 30 years ago or so and was halted due to a military coup back then.
After checking-in Indra Regent Hotel, we took a cab to MBK Shopping Center. It’s quite big, 8 storeys of shopping. But I didn’t enjoy MBK so much because the people there were rude. All the websites I read said that bargaining for items can go down to 40-60%. And that’s what we did but the sales people there were really rude and snatched the items we were bargaining for and walked away muttering in Thai.
We were picked up at 6.30pm for dinner. Our first authentic Thai meal! Tom yam soup is a must. There were stirfry veggies, sweet sour pork, spicy callamari, fish and best of all ROASTED PORK!

I bought a few things at the market. I even found a swimsuit which cost me 600bath, around RM60. Not that cheap but considering they had it in my size and it did make me look somewhat slimmer, it was a good deal for me.
We took a cab back to the hotel around 11pm seeing as we had to be up by 6.30am the next day for breakfast and then the tour.
