Leo’s new trick
January 17, 2009
This is the family dog, Leo. If you remember, I did a post on him when he was just a little puppy.
So sometime in the last week, as I was eating lunch, Leo was begging for food (very typical of him I might add). In fact he was begging on the steps by the door in the new room. He sat on the top step because everytime he gets food, he has to sit. So then I told him to lay down. Now bear in mind the step is probably just a little under 12 and 36 inches in width and length.
Anyway he laid down, and he got his treat. Then the dog, in his effort to want to make me feel bad or something (at least that’s how I felt) laid his head on the floor in the house. I thought it looked cute so I gave him a treat and said “Good boy!”.
I commanded him in Hokkien to lay his head down and he did it a few times. I was estatic! The next day he wouldn’t do it even with me dangling some really good treats in front of him. The traitor!
After some thought a few days later I figured I should change the command and so it became “pity face”. Apparently, he likes to “do the pity face” command more than the Hokkien command. LOL Now every time he wants a treat, he has to do the whole process of sitting, laying down and then “do the pity face”.
This is how it looked first time he did the pity face (Excuse the dark picture)
A few days ago, I tried to get him to do the pity face other than on the steps and he did it! Success! I taught the dog a new trick. He even did it for the parents, although initially he wouldn’t. Now he’ll do the pity face anywhere.
Minding his own business I guess
The steps behind is where he laid down and did the first pity face
Now who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?
Resolutions for 2009
January 11, 2009
*Mini update. Didn’t have to pay for late registration, which wasn’t my fault (Refer to previous post) so that’s RM50 saved.*
And so I have decided to join the cliche of listing my resolutions for 2009, as I have for 2008. Here goes:-
1. Be less cynical (that means stop saying, “You suck, they suck, we all suck, we’re all gonna die anyway)
2. Be happier. Oh the sky is blue, the grass is green, roses are red, life is beautiful…yadda yadda yadda. This is so not working for me.
3. Be more content with my life (as in stop being so picky with everything).
4. Sweat not the small stuff. In laymen’s term, stop being bitchy.
5. Better camera and (PINK) mp3 player. *hint*hint* Any takers (or givers for that matter)?
6. Since it’s like a trend now, be more vain (but not ugly vain) which leads me to the next resolution…
7. Lose weight (so typical)
Last but certainly not least, my ultimate goal for 2009 is *drumroll please*
8. Graduate in August and get a job! (Like that one wasn’t obvious) If that happens, I get myself a DSLR and PINK mp3 player. I can’t count the times that I’ve said I wanted a DSLR for the longest time.
That’s about all I can come up with at the moment, because if I let loose and blabber away, you’ll be bored to death with China’s environmental protection laws and the challenges China faces towards a sustainable economic development in a globalised era of information technology and k-economy. (Try reading that in one breath, then try typing all that in one breath). Umm I’ll add more to the list as time goes by, if I’m not too lazy that is.
Okay, back to work. I’m so SO close. Wish me luck.
Au revoir.
One of those days
January 6, 2009
I suppose my lack sleep has caused me to be cranky today so allow me to rant.
I received a letter from the university regarding registration for the new semester today. Normally, it’s no big deal but here’s the “catch”. In the letter it stated that registration is from 15 – 31 December 2008. Yes you read right. I only received the f*cking letter today. The date stamp on the envelope said 26/12/08, which means the idiots sent the letter a day after Christmas, with 5 days left for registration.
The postal service…holy crap. It took 10 days….TEN DAYS for me to receive the letter, a letter from a place that is 15 minutes drive from my house. Am I the only one that sees how ridiculous that sounds? Anyway, postal service aside.
This is what baffles me. If I am required to come register between 15 – 31 December then shouldn’t I be notified of this BEFORE it starts, like maybe in the first week of December, if not earlier? What the f*ck are they thinking, or rather NOT thinking?
Oh wait there’s more. It gets better. Apparently there is now a new ruling that those who register late will be penalized RM50. So tomorrow I get to go over there and possibly have a “interesting” argument with somebody over this. I refuse to pay the so-called fine for the incompetence and stupidity of these f*cking idiots.
Wish me luck.
