Little Cottage
June 23, 2009
I’ve been going to Little Cottage quite frequently for dinner. It’s located in Tabuan Laru area. If memory serves me correctly, it’s located in Lorong 2B3. I find the place very homey because it’s actually like a bistro in a house.
The interior decor
I personally prefer the Nyonya food compared to its western food. The western food takes a longer time to be served, obviously because of the cooking time and doesn’t taste that great. The Nyonya food on the other hand is delish and is served really fast because it’s pre-cooked. My favorite is the Beef Rendang!
My favourite Beef Rendang. It’s to die for!
Beef rendang + cucumbers + rice = Drool fest
I later found out that the owner of Little Cottage used to work at Denis’ Place, a place I went to a lot as a teenager (which was like 10 years ago) at Main Bazaar.
I’m making myself hungry again. I think I’ll go shove my face in a candy bar. 😛
Girls’ night (pigging) out
July 11, 2007
Starbucks opened (of all places) at the Kuching Airport last Friday which is kinda odd considering the location. I would think they’ll have better business somewhere around town. Oh well…here’s a picture if you don’t believe me. 😛
It rained like madness yesterday. Even more drastic was the wind. I swear the coconut trees outside my house was close to getting blown away (literally).
Anyway the point of this post was the girls’ night out on Monday. Went out with Fiona and Linda and I have to say we were NUTS NUTS NUTS. The amount of giggling involved was plethoric (practising my vocabulary). We hung out at Jalan Song for a couple of hours. I turned my head 3 times to the next table and it was a different set of people every time, meaning we were there THAT long.
We ate SO MUCH that night because we were so hungry. So hungry that I didn’t take pictures of the food but allow me to list out what we gobbled:
1. Chicken wings x 12
2. Satay x 15
3. Big ketupat x 1
4. Grilled fish (stingray) x 1
The damage on the table when we were done….
With our stomachs’ full, Operation Camwhore commenced. It’s funny how we can just camwhore ANYWHERE, even in a kopitiam. HEHEHEHE
So nice meh your drink??? So syiok the face (In translation its
“Is your drink THAT good? The facial expression is so contented”)
Linda! Hadn’t seen her in months!
Linda brought chocolates, more precisely Guylian chocolates. It was oh-so-sinful but I didn’t feel guilty at all. I almost had to wipe the drool that was flowing out of the corner of my mouth. I love Guylian chocolates, then again I love all chocolates. Just look at my size!
Coincidently I was wearing the shirt that said it all. LOL
See how much happier I am to be biting into it?
I heard “Hallelujah” on the background when she took that first bite
Linda, why do you look like you’re feeling guilty? HAHAHAHA
No words to describe the contentment. No guilt here.
We did something bad after the camwhoring. Actually it was me. I looked up and there was Pizza Hut’s sign in all its glory, glistenning and calling out for me, like “Shin come to the light, come and get your cheesy pizza that has the cheese dip thingy” and I said to the girls “I feel like pizza”. We looked at each other and started shrugging our eyebrows and went “LET’S GO GET PIZZA!”
So we did…
And again…we camwhored, not as much though cause there was a table of annoying kids who kept staring. Man I feel old when I have to called teenagers “kids”. =P
So let’s recap:
1. Chicken wings x 12 = RM20
2. Satay x 15 = RM4.50
3. Big ketupat x 1 = RM2 (guessing)
4. Grilled fish (stingray) x 1 = RM11
5. Regular pizza x 1 = RM34 something
Total pocket damage = RM71.50
Total yakking = (To) Infinity and beyond! (This would be funny if you watched Toy Story)
Total giggling = Unaccountable
Total fun= Beyond this world
Sushi sushi sushi
May 15, 2007
The Japanese restaurant at Sarawak Plaza is having a promotion on California Maki priced at 20 cents each until tomorrow. When I found out about it, I did not think twice of going there for dinner. I also had a set of unagi sushi. In total, I ate 15 California Maki, 2 unagi sushi, some wakame, and some of my mom’s ramen noodles. Needless to say I was very full but strange enough by the time I got home, I didn’t feel it anymore. And yes, I can eat a lot if I want to, hence the body fat. Anyway, I think I’ll lay off the sushi for a while. Think I had too much. Hahaha.
Apparently, Meebo has launched some kinda chatroom thingy and I get my own chatroom for being a Meebo user. You can visit my chatroom here but it’s pretty quiet in there because I don’t have that many readers.
Moving along…
I watched Martha Stewart Show this morning (like EVERY WEEK DAY) and it was the wedding show!!! I can’t believe how excited I got. It’s weird. I got a couple decoration ideas for my future wedding. HEH I’ve decided that when I get married, I could do the decorations myself because it’ll be a simple small wedding of close family and friends and I can basically take care of it. I’m more into the simple elegant stuff, like fresh pink roses in little glass vases and candles floating in a glass bowl kinda thing. Nothing too complicated. I can even do the invitations myself. Plus, it’s a lot cheaper!
To be honest, I also kinda already know which dress I want. I was looking through wedding gowns on websites and found the one I fell in love with. Rob likes it too. =D It’ll just be a matter of time when I can try it on. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not having a wedding ceremony anytime soon but it’s always good to be prepared for the future. I just love talking about it with Rob. It’s nice talking about our future together. =D
Okay, enough blabbering. I’m going to continue working on the thesis.
P/S: I’m still on the lappy so no pictures yet.

So it’s the middle of winter and one night Rob decides I must try the famous $5 milkshake at Oberweiss. That’s almost a RM20 milkshake. How crazy is that??
Vanilla and chocolate milkshake
My hands were freezing as I hold up the two shakes in WINTER.
I can’t believe it, I’m enjoying a milkshake in the car in WINTER
The pizza Rob made for me, with love. (Yes I am so corny.)
I saw a Baskin Robbins ice cream parlour at Woodfield Mall. It’s a freakingly huge mall, bigger than Mid Valley Mega Mall.
My favorite flavor of all time – The Strawberry Cheesecake!
This next picture is the dessert I had at Ann Sathers restaurant prior to watching the Blueman Group perform in Briar Street Theather. This is the restaurant’s signature dessert – brownies topped with (my choice of) French vanilla ice cream and chocolate fudge.
While shopping at (one of the many) Target store, I got hungry from smelling the aroma of hotdogs at the main entrance.
There’s a restaurant called 50 North near Rob’s church that sells chicken wings for 30 cents each. Rob ordered 8 spicy wings and 12 sweet BBQ wings. It was GOOD! The chicken wings came with bleu cheese and sour cream dip and celery sticks. I liked the taste of dipping celery in bleu cheese, unfortunately not long after that I had some kinda allergic reaction to it. My skin started to itch, from my arms down to my back. Luckily it didn’t last that long.
Very contented look. Ahhhhhhh….
The whole food saga in the past week or so may lead you to think that I ate like a pig during my stay in Chicago. Even I think so. The truth is I was there for 14 days and everyday I tried different kinds of food. I made it a point to try as much variety as possible, which meant ordering different dishes even though I found Rob’s choice to be good. In the end, I’d always picked and steal his food. He didn’t seem to mind. Heh
Another thing, we tend to eat just one big meal a day. We ate breakfast early a few times but mostly we just had some snacks to start off the day. Then we would do our daily activities which consist of shopping (walking) and sightseeing (walking). Surprisingly I don’t think I gained weight while I was there. Heh
Pigging out: Part 3

Sorry for the delay of this post. Like I vented in the earlier post, my DSL was down for a few days. So let’s get on with the show, shall we?

Olive Garden has the best pasta I’ve ever had, with unlimited supply of salads and breadsticks.
I’ve never loved salads this much.
Rob’s dad gave us a giftcard worth $70 at Jameson’s Charhouse. We used it up in one seating and didn’t have enough for dessert or tip. It was spectacular! HAHA!
I ordered a rack of lamb grilled with barbeque sauce. Originally, it was grilled with some kinda mustard but since I wasn’t such a big fan of mustard Rob asked the waiter if the chef would do a custom order and he agreed!
Another new dish I tried is called Potato Skins. It’s a potato sliced in half topped with cheese and bacon bits, and grilled to perfection. It was DELICIOUS!
Look at the melting cheese…MMMMMMMMMM
Look at the juice on that baby
One more post to go on food! Toodles~~

Chili’s was one of my favorite places to dine in during my stay in Chicago. What I loved most in that restaurant was THE MOLTEN CAKE. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, you’ll understand when you see the picture.
Monterey Chicken – grilled chicken topped with tomatoes served with mash potatoes and brocolli
Fajitas with grilled chicken. Fajitas are a type of Mexican food.
This is called the Awesome Blossom. It basically tastes like onions rings.
Beef burger with bacon and chips AKA french fries
And the best thing of all….
Drum roll please….
….
….
….
….
….
….
THE Molten cake, the sin of all sins. (Yes, that’s actually another Molten Cake in the background)
I had the Molten cake twice. 😀 It was SO FREAKING good. A moist chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce and caramel. HOLY CRAP IT WAS SO GOOD!
Friday’s was another place I liked a lot (but not as much as Chili’s – THEY RAWK [damn I should be the official Chili’s spokesperson]).
Sesame Jack chicken strips = GOOD
Dragonfire chicken served with rice and brocolli
Sizzling chicken and shrimp = YUMMY
Chrissy, Ernie, Rob, Me and John at the back
For Christmas eve, we went to Artemis with Rob’s dad. I tried the Greek chicken which was Rob’s mom’s favorite dish there.
Hot Turkey sandwich. The bread is underneath the turkey.
Feeling challenged by Rob’s dad, Rob and I order the biggest most humongous dessert in their menu. It’s called the Belly Buster. The name says it all. As the waiter brought the dessert, a lot of people in the restaurant were like “Ooooooooo” or “Wow”. One table even offered to help eat it. This is why…..
The Belly Buster – Five large scoops of ice cream (our choice of flavors), lots of whipped cream, wafer cookies, bananas, cherries, hot fudge and nuts.
The ice cream started to melt before we even managed to finish it. Rob’s dad was taunting us to finish it. Using a small dessert spoon to scoop the liquid ice cream seemed rather pointless, so….we improvised….
We used straws and slurped up that baby in no time. 😀
Stay tuned for Part 3!!

Endulging in yummy food is one of the bestest pleasures in life. I ate like a pig during my stay in Chicago. By the time I got to Chicago it was already dinner time and this is what I had.
Burger and onion rings at Kappy’s, my first real American meal
The next morning (after lots of cuddling and snuggling the night before), Rob took me to the all-American breakfast restaurant, IHOP (International House of Pancakes).
In a booth at IHOP drinking pink lemonade of sorts
Scrambled eggs, hash browns, and bacon
Scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon , ham and sausages
IHOP’s signature cinnamon roll French toast
French toast. OMG THEY WERE SO GOOD!
Pancakes, look at the melting butter
Rob’s dad took us to breakfast a few times…
Egg Factory’s Strawberry waffles
Egg Factory’s Banana and walnut waffles
Walker Brothers Apple cinnamon pancake
Look at the sauce and cinnamon…
DAMN MY MOUTH IS WATERING NOW!
This is just a teaser. The next few posts will definitely get you guys all hungry and swallowing your saliva! With that said, stay tuned!
Making pizza in Chicago
March 15, 2007
My stud muffin personally made me a pizza while I was in Chicago. A heart-shaped pizza at that. *smiles gleefully*
I shall let the pictures do the talking.
I like how he folds the edges. Makes it look “pretty”. HEH
A heart pizza for his sweetheart. (I am SO corny)
Then in goes the sauce.
Spread it around as so.
In goes the sausage. This is a specially ordered sausage. MUCH better than Pizza Hut.
Me putting the pepperoni. Again, mucho better than Pizza Hut
Juicy pineapple. Rob’s hands, not mine. I didn’t want to get my hands dirty. HEH
Half onions
Goes into the oven for 15-20 minutes and…
TADA!
It was the best pizza I’ve ever had! Lots of sausage and pepperoni and pineapple and onions! Thinking about it now makes me drool. I think I’m gonna go snack on something. Heh
Christmas with the Gilles’
February 4, 2007
Christmas with the Gilles’ was unconventional but very fun to say the least. We had X’mas dinner at Rob’s brother’s (Mike) place.
Alaskan King Crab…MMMmmmmMMMMMmmmm
Fried breaded shrimp…mmmmm my mouth is watering
There were other foods too like steak and potatos but I was too busy eating to take any pictures. Hahahaha
Debbie (Mike’s wife) made these cookies. They were DELICIOUS. Don’t they look GOOD? Damn, I’m drooling right now.
After dinner, all of us sat together to watch Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. It was hilarious and I love it!
Then, as soon as the movie ended, the camwhoring proceeded. We tried to get a family shot and it wasn’t easy since I had to position the camera in the right place and make sure everyone can fit in the frame.
First try. It looks weird with me on the side with my BIG ass sticking out…
Second try with Rob sitting on the floor. Still looks odd…
Third try. It dawned to us that Miss Big Ass ought to be in the middle. SUCCESS!
The “kids” (says Rob’s dad) by the tree
Packing up leftovers
I got ambushed with X’mas gifts from Rob’s parents. It was such a surprise. Rob told me that they don’t exchange gifts during X’mas so I wasn’t prepared at all. I ran out the next day to get gifts for them. Hehe *paiseh*
In case you’re wondering, YES that is a piece of chocolate!
Hope everyone had a good X’mas! (Yes I know it’s late.)
