Ummm… (Part 2)

November 8, 2006

It’s my birithday!!! *throws confetti balloons*

I don’t feel any older. I still feel 18. lol

Don’t have much planned for today as the celebrations took place over the weekend and last night.

I’m going to get me some breakfast.

Toodles~~~

Ummm…

November 7, 2006

I’ll be having my birthday dinner tonight with the family.

I have no freaking clue what to wear. Then again, it isn’t a big deal. Technically I don’t need to dress up. But as a girl, I think I’m obligated to my womankind to look decent. Okay that wasn’t even funny…FAIL.

Moving along…

I’m still choosing what pictures to put up for my Day 3 of Pattaya so please bear with me. Pattaya is SO SO SO beautiful.

I’ll update again later.

Bangkok Day 2, Overnight Pattaya

November 4, 2006

Disclaimer: LOTS OF PICTURES!

Day 2 in Bangkok started early at around 7.30am. Our first stop was the famous Four-face Buddha near a shopping mall. I forgot what the name was. I have not much interest in statues and whatnot so I wasn’t paying attention to what the tour guide was saying. Besides, it was too early for a history lesson! Hehehe

Anyway, we were told by our tour guide that this particular Four-face Buddha is very famous. A lot of people from all over the world come and pray and give offerings to it. Those who get what they prayed for from this Buddha come back within a year or so and offer gifts to the Buddha. The gifts come in many forms. A logging tycoon from Surabaya had half a dozen of elephants carved from very expensive teaks to be offered to the Buddha.

The giggly trio in Bangkok had a picture taken by the statue and amusingly there’s Burberry behind us. HAHAHAHA

After the Buddha statue tour, we went to the famous Temple of Dawn aka Wat Arun. We had to take a boat across the Chao Phraya River.

The view from the boat was awesome. Pictures from websites of the exact view during sunset was absolutely magnificent. Too bad I couldn’t witness that. Anyway, a stall was offering traditional Thai costumes for rent at the entrance. I don’t remember how much it cost but I’m sure it was under 100baht (or RM10). We all jumped on it. The costumes weren’t as nice as the ones we see on TV and they really make us look fat. I mean, look at me…

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Ummm, come to think of it I AM fat, so scratch that… :s

Sawadeeka *giggle*

Okay, back to the temple…

The interior of the temple was beautiful. It used to be the temple for a Thai king to do his religious prayers. That explains the rows of gold Buddha statues and gems embedded on the pillars and ceilings.

Another thing about this temple is that it has a LOT of statues. Big, small, tall and short.

More goofieness

This particular statue of a lion of sort made me giggle. We were told these statues were made by the Chinese during the 17th century as gifts to the king of Thailand then. I must say the Chinese were very detailed.

That’s a bung hole in case some of you are wondering what I’m pointing at. lol

After the temple, we headed to the Sriracha Tiger Zoo. The tiger zoo is located on the way to Pattaya. It was about 2 and half hours ride. We tried to nap in the van but got woken up constantly because the highway was kinda bumpy. However, I must say it was the highlight of the day for me. I enjoyed the tiger show (not to be mistaken with the other “Tiger show” heh).

I also took pictures with a baby tiger! Rob thinks I was crazy for doing that because the “baby” tiger looked really big. He said it was big enough to gnaw on my head. I think it was so cute! The huge paws and all that. See for yourself.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Cute what!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
There was a crocodile show too.

Let’s just say no one can pay me enough money to do the stunts this guy did. Isn’t he insane?!?

Oh, this is a cute picture too. I took it after the Pig Race.

We headed towards Pattaya after the zoo. It was a 30 minutes drive. We arrived at the famous Alcazar for the cabbaret AKA Ah Gua show .

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The cabaret show was such an extravaganza with marvellous music, dance and costumes. I took videos of some of the shows but the sound was distorted. Doubt I will post the videos up unless I can find a way to better the sound quality. But the pictures turned out nice.

Check out her/his ass!

This one, I think was hilarious. He/she went to the audience and grabbing hands of men and putting them on his/her “boobs”.

Then he/she pulled a white guy out of the audience on stage, grabbed his head and pushed it in between his/her boobs. I couldn’t get any pictures in time. :/

More hotties…

I think he/she is hot.

Pattaya’s very own “Destiny’s Child”

Everyone came out and waved goodbye

Remember the hottie in white? He/She looked hot on stage but somehow the face looks distorted in this picture :s

The Alcazar cabaret is a must if you visit Pattaya!

And finally, the day of touring ended with a good dinner of Pineapple rice and other local dishes.

We checked in the A-One Cruise Hotel in Pattaya for the night.

Stay tuned! More pictures to come…

A year ago today…

November 2, 2006

…Rob and I met face to face for the first time. I was excited but at the same time nervous. What would I say? What would I do? Thoughts were frolicking through my head as I waited anxiously at the airport. The moment I recognize that face, I lit up. He smiled. He pushed his trolley as he walked towards me. I stood there with a goofy grin on my face because I held up a yellow piece of paper with his name on it. It was an inside joke.

As he got closer to me, my hands came down and I hurriedly walked towards him. I don’t know what happened. All the nervousness was gone. We hugged. It was as if we’ve “met” before. I almost cried.

Ten months ago, Rob left Kuching. He took a part of me with him as I am sure part of him is with me here. Things have not been the same since. We ached for each other. We still do. It has been a rough year for the both of us, with dying pets and loved ones as well as hardships in life that seemed never ending. We “survived” those and our love for each other is as strong as ever. But days like today when the memory of us being together, holding hands and hugging is so intense, it’s hard to hold back the tears. It’s hard not to miss him so much.

Six weeks from now, I will be going to the States. We’re both very excited. He tasted a piece of Kuching, now it’s my turn to have a taste of the “American weirdness” as Rob says. I can’t wait to see him. I can’t wait to hold his hand. I can’t wait to be kissed by him. I can’t wait to hug him. I’m not sure if I can let go of him when I hug him when I arrive in Chicago in December.

*SIGH*

I love you Robbie. One day we’ll be together for the rest of our lives and an eternity of afterlife.

Bangkok Day 1

October 31, 2006

Sorry for not posting earlier. I have been feeling tired ever since I got back from my trip. I doubt it’s jetlag though. I keep getting light headed and this morning somehow when I turned my head to the right, I felt this sharp pain down the side of my neck. It still hurts. *pout*

Anyway, after sorting out over 400 pictures (a combination of pictures from my digital camera and cousin’s), here’s Day 1 in Bangkok.

Arriving in the new airport in Bangkok, my mom and I went through immigration check. I was checking out the new airport, looking around, up and down. Then I noticed there were A LOT of cobwebs on the ceiling. How can that be? It’s a new airport for pete’s sake! I didn’t manage to take any pictures as there was this rule of no phones/cameras during immigration check. Anyhow, I later found out that construction of this new airport started over 30 years ago or so and was halted due to a military coup back then.

After checking-in Indra Regent Hotel, we took a cab to MBK Shopping Center. It’s quite big, 8 storeys of shopping. But I didn’t enjoy MBK so much because the people there were rude. All the websites I read said that bargaining for items can go down to 40-60%. And that’s what we did but the sales people there were really rude and snatched the items we were bargaining for and walked away muttering in Thai.

We were picked up at 6.30pm for dinner. Our first authentic Thai meal! Tom yam soup is a must. There were stirfry veggies, sweet sour pork, spicy callamari, fish and best of all ROASTED PORK!

It may look scarry, but it was absolutely delicious!

Even the toilet in the restaurant looks good 😀
After a heavy dinner, our tour guide dropped us at the Suan Lum Night Bazaar for some shopping. We had to go back ourselves though. It was so hot and humid at the market but I enjoyed bargaining for things there. People there were a LOT polite compared to MBK. This night bazaar sells a variety of things, from clothes to accessories to food to toys to furniture.

I bought a few things at the market. I even found a swimsuit which cost me 600bath, around RM60. Not that cheap but considering they had it in my size and it did make me look somewhat slimmer, it was a good deal for me.

We took a cab back to the hotel around 11pm seeing as we had to be up by 6.30am the next day for breakfast and then the tour.

Back

October 29, 2006

I’m back from my trip and ubber tired.

Lots of pictures. Over 300 I think. Heh

I’ll update after some rest.

Oh, Happy Birthday to my dearest friend, Ah Tze AKA Fiona! =D

The birthday girl and yours truly

Bangkok, here I come!

October 24, 2006

I’m off to Bangkok tomorrow morning! Will be taking the earliest flight to KL to catch the connecting flight to Bangkok.

I’m glad the battery for my digital camera came in time before I leave. I asked Rob to get me the lithium batteries for my Olympus camera and send it over. It costs like RM210 for one here! He got 2 for USD10 or something, but they are generic brands but who cares?! As long as they work. This brand even has more mAh than the one that came with my camera. What’s mAh, you ask? I asked Rob the same question too. Apparently, the higher the mAh, the longer the battery lasts. 😀 In essence, it means MORE pictures for me to take, but I don’t have enough memory lah. Heh.

I’ve been looking up domestic flights in the US and prices go up and down like a yoyo. Like last night, I checked American Airlines and they had Chicago O’Hare to Atlanta for USD69. I checked again this afternoon and it’s at USD129!!!!!!! *growl* I checked other airlines and they are all roughly the same price! It’s a conspiracy I tell you!!! The airlines are conspiring against Rob and I to make it hard for us to book flights! Oh wait, my New York Laguardia to Chicago Midway is already booked and paid for. Cost like USD79 which isn’t bad. Heh =D I’m flying to Chicago from NY on December 18th to see my honey!!! YAY!!! I can’t wait!!!

USD129 may not seem like a high price in terms of USD but in conversion to MYR, I’m going to be broke before even setting foot in US soil. 🙁 *sigh* I must not give up, must keep searching for the best deals.

Anyway, I better stop rambling. I still need to do some packing. I hate packing last minute. I always end up forgetting something.

I’ll be back on Saturday at midnight which is technically Sunday. Will blog then!

Cheerios~~

TV!!!

October 19, 2006

😀

I got a TV in my room now. *does the snoopy dance*

For those who have heard me complain, you will understand why I’m happy.

For those who don’t know, let me explain. We have a big TV downstairs while my parents have a TV in their room. That means I have to constantly fight for the TV with another habitat in the house. It’s really simple, whoever turns on the TV owns the TV for that time. Most of the shows I want to watch comes on after 10pm. When IT comes home (most of the time after 9.30pm), IT hogs the TV until IT has to go out again OR fall asleep. Usually, it’s either watching DVDs or playing on the PS2, which takes hours most of the time. So that means I can’t watch anything I want.

Anyway I have been complaining to the parents about that and how unfair it is that IT hogs the TV everytime IT is home. Their suggestion is to put a TV in my room and I can watch whatever I want, whenever I want. Unfortunately, my room isn’t exactly a presidential suite. I don’t have space for a TV, at least not a big one. Then, a couple nights ago, I mentioned that I could probably fit a smaller TV in my room. My parents’ old TV (which has no remote so you can imagine how old it is) is left unused in the room downstairs so my dad cleaned and tested it out. It still works!!!

My lil TV sitting next to my fan. See how nice the color is?

Voila! The TV is mine now. I had to move things around to get a perfect spot for the TV. Now I’m happy happy happy. The downside of this is that this TV doesn’t have a remote. So, I can’t do my habitual channel surfing when there is a commercial break on the channel I am watching. Hey, it’s better than nothing!

I was driving behind a police truck of convicts on Tuesday on the way to lunch with my aunt and cousin. I took the liberty to sneak a picture. Two policemen were sitting outside the cell and another two inside the cell. If my eyesight was working, I think there were 5 convicts in there, wearing orange jumpsuits. Heh

Oh, Tuesday night was my last night tutoring devil’s children. I’m feeling quite happy about that. I can watch Grey’s Anatomy on NTV7!!!

5 more days until my escapade! Still haven’t gotten info on the cellphone service. Anyone know?

How some people can be SO stupid

October 15, 2006

I saw smoke on the way to breakfast this morning. My dad was driving and we got closer and closer to the scene. We could tell because traffic was almost at a halt. Why? Because people HAD to slow down and look. It annoys the crap outta me.

The worst part IS some people actually STOPPED their cars, took up half a lane AND looked. Those who wanted to pass had to take part of the opposite direction lane, causing everyone to move slower.

I cannot believe how STUPID and inconsiderate some people can be. There were even cars PARKED along the side of the road, making it hard for the fire truck to reach the burning house. I saw people getting out of their cars, walking to the smoke while the poor fire truck had zigzag its way through traffic.

How would they feel if THEIR house was on fire and a bunch of people stop their cars, taking up one lane of the ONLY road to their house, making it hard for fire trucks to rush to save their home.

IDIOTS! I ABSOLUTELY hate that. Yes, someone’s house is on fire. Either help out, or STAY OUT OF THE WAY.

Needless to say, traffic was SMOOTHLY running a block after the burning house. Where were the police at this time? Well, they were around. I saw them……..

Coming from the opposite direction and was the LAST car in the queue. Now, I have to wonder what the hell they were thinking? USE THE EFFING SIRENS. Let people know there is an EMERGENCY and you need to go through IMMEDIATELY.

Absolutely assinine.

HELP!!

October 14, 2006

OMG My brain hurts so much right now. I’m gonna cry!

I have been going through websites of Thailand’s cellphone service carriers. I’ve found DTAC’s Happy and AIS’s One-2-call but I don’t understand Thai to get the answers I need. *cries*

I keep clicking for the English version but it comes out in Thai and even if there is English, it’s not sufficient information for me. My brain hurts. *pout*

Someone please help me, pretty pretty please?

I need to know:

1) How much is a starter kit?
2) How much is IDD calls to the US and Malaysia?
3) How much is an international SMS?
4) Where do I buy a starter kit? Do I have to go to a specific store?
5) In general, which cellphone carrier is better?

HELLPPPP!!! I’m going to go cry now. *whines*
